My Favorite Moments of 2018

Happy New Year, everyone! I know it’s already 2019 and you’re all tired of seeing recaps of last year, but I really wanted to put together a quick overview of my 2018. It was big year of growth for me with lots of ups and downs, but I honestly couldn’t be more proud of who I became this year. I feel more like myself than ever and I can’t wait to see what this new year brings.

Here’s a few snaps from each month, if you want to take a look:

January

I started the year with a big Marie Kondo clean out (I got rid of 4 car loads of stuff!), walked on frozen lakes, enjoyed a few sunny Saturdays, and generally hibernated.

February

February was filled with Monday nights watching the Bachelor at the local watering hole, more snowy lake walks, taking up cross-stitching for a minute, and crying at Olympic figure skating.

March

March was a big month! I left my corporate job, moved back to Chicago, took a girls trip to San Francisco, and turned 25. I also got my car towed for the first time and went to the Green Mill twice.

April

April was filled with snow showers, walks with my mom’s rescue greyhound, afternoons at the Art Institute, and wanders around all my favorite spots in the city.

May

I have a sweet spot for May because two of my favorite babies were born, including my wonderful nephew. I also celebrated the success of the Repeal the 8th campaign and met one of an OG blogger, Julia Engel.

June

I spent June doing lots of fun stuff around Chicago! I saw Taylor Swift at Soldier Field, Instagram artist Mari Andrew, attended a blogger event with Rimmel London, and celebrated my brother’s first father’s day at the beach.

July

I celebrated Fourth of July with family and friends, went on a Girls Trip to Iowa, went on a lot of sweaty runs, and moved back to Madison for a new job.

August

I went home in August to see my nephew and my Grandma meet for the first time, which was so special. I also saw Beyonce with my mom, studying a lot for the GRE, and attended the Create & Cultivate conference.

September

I started out September in Philly visiting my friend Kristin. I also bought a couch, got a lung infection, took the GRE (the first time), and saw Rupi Kaur and Iliza Shlesinger.

October

I had a lot of free time in October since I got laid off, so I spent it drinking beer with my friends, looking at art with my mom, watching Finnish crime dramas, getting a colposcopy, and dressing up as “Voting” for Halloween.

November

In November I help vote Scott Walker out of office, went thrifting a lot, bought a rug, started two new jobs, took the GRE (again), became an official resident of Wisconsin, and spent Thanksgiving with all my favorite people.

December

December was filled with bad Christmas movies, getting my first full-sized Christmas tree, holiday traditions like the Chriskindlemarket and seeing the Nutcracker, crying in Costco, and celebrating the holidays with the fam.

Hope you’re all having a great 2019 so far!
