My Frostiball 2020 Look (with Hilldale Mall)

Last weekend, I got to tick another item off my Madison bucket list – go to Frostiball! Frostiball is an annual fundraiser and gala for the Overture Center here in Madison, which is the largest non-profit arts organization in the city. As a former theater major, I love art and especially live performance and have been lucky enough to see some amazing artists, comedians, and writers at the Overture Center over the years. Frostiball itself takes place at the Overture Center and is basically adult prom lol. There’s tons of food, champagne, live music, dancing, photo ops, and more. I was there for hours and I’m not sure I saw everything! The whole night was a blast and I ended up running into a bunch of friends (because Madison) so I can’t recommend it enough if you can swing tickets!

I also have to give a special shoutout to Frostiball sponsor, Hilldale Mall, for inviting me along and providing me with VIP tickets. I honestly could never image my little blog would open up doors for me like this and I’m so grateful they thought of me for this campaign. I love that Hilldale helps sponsors such an incredible night and is a supporter of the Overture Center, which is such a pillar of the arts here in Madison. Thank you, Hilldale!

I rarely ever get to dress up these days, so when I was invited to go I was immediately was trying to figure out what to wear! I knew I wanted a dress that would make a statement, but I’ve also been on a budget lately so I turned to Rent the Runway as my solution. I found an amazing code through blogger Kate from Lonestar Southern (that I can’t for the life of me find again 😭) that brought the unlimited subscription down to $65 for the first two months, which was amazing since renting a dress was going to run me about that much anyway. I actually ordered this red dress as a back up to another one and I’m so glad that I did! Reds can be tricky on me since I’m so fair and have a lot of pink in my skin, but this cherry red was absolutely perfect. I wanted a dress with a wow-factor to it and I totally hit the jackpot.

If you have a formal event coming up, I can’t recommend Rent the Runway enough. There was no way I was going to shell out a couple hundred dollars for a dress I knew I’d only wear once, but I still wanted something that fit amazingly and was high quality (I feel like with formalwear you can always tell when something is cheap). I got a little nervous my dresses wouldn’t come on time or that they wouldn’t fit when they arrived, so if you’re an anxious person it might not be a great option for you, but I ordered a couple different options and was so happy with my dress.

I also have to talk about my jewelry from Kendra Scott! For those of you who don’t know, I work some nights and weekends at Kendra Scott at Hilldale Mall, so of course I asked if I could wear some pieces for Frostiball. In fact, I actually had my jewelry picked out before I even had my dress lol. Originally, I was planning on going with some silver pieces from our latest winter collection, but when I was trying pieces on with some co-workers and my blogger friend, Sarah, the consensus was definitely to go with gunmetal. Our gunmetal is honestly our most underrated metal, so I didn’t immediately think of it, but it ended up being perfect with the dress I chose.

I’m wearing the Fabia earrings, which are currently on sale, and they’re a stunning statement earring. They came in an even bigger size last year, so I was happy to see them toned down a little bit this season and available in the beautiful gunmetal and navy color. The earrings were clearly the focal point of the jewelry, so I opted for a couple of simpler pieces in the Ott bracelet and the Theodore ring from the Color Bar. If you’re not familiar with the Color Bar, it’s a portion of the Kendra Scott store where you design and create custom pieces. Since nothing we had pre-made really fit the Fabias, we made a gunmetal ring with navy cats eye glass which was a perfect match. It’s such a fun option if you want to get creative in store!

To finish up my look I added a simple pair of black Sam Edelman heels that I bought for my trip to Vegas last year and a clear clutch (not pictured). It was super gross out the day of Frostiball (hence why all these photos are taken indoors) so I was a little worried about getting the hem of my dress damp and walking around in heels, but things couldn’t have gone better! I felt amazing and got so many compliments on my outfit – it was a total dream of a night. Again, a HUGE thank you to Hilldale Mall for gifting me tickets to Frostiball and to Kendra Scott for gifting me two of the pieces I wore that night. I am so grateful to have the support of these incredible local businesses and to have been a part of such a fun evening.
