My Review of the Hilldale Sidewalk Sale

Last night, my friend Sarah and I met up at Hilldale Mall to check out their Sidewalk Sale! I love a good bargain and a lot of my favorite stores were participating, so I was excited to scope it out. We had so much fun stopping by my go-to spots at Hilldale and I’m here to report back on the best deals we took advantage of.

Overall impression: It’s a fun sale, but there wasn’t anything included in it that felt essential to me. Lots of summer stuff on sale, if you’re like me and accidentally Marie Kondo’d every piece of summer clothing you own. The highlight for me price-wise was definitely the Pier South Warehouse Sale – huge markdowns on great workwear dresses and brands like Lily Pulitzer. It’s also a great opportunity to get a discount on something you’ve had your eye for a while and need a little bump to go for it.

Sales We Checked Out

First up was Madewell! They have 30% off sale clothing and accessories and 40% off sale shoes going on, so they were high on the list. I love Madewell and their pieces are a good mix of fun and practical, which is pretty aligned with my style. There were lots of cute summer tops and dresses and a surprising amount of jeans and sandals on sale, so if you’re looking to revamp your Summer wardrobe I recommend checking it out!

Next up was the Pier South Warehouse Sale. This was the MVP of the day for sure with the biggest markdowns ($300 dresses for like 60 bucks) and nothing over $70. I don’t typically shop at Pier South because it’s not my everyday style, but I love the preppier brands for fun and well-made work clothes. With more conservative styles and amazing fit, brands like Lily Pulitzer are my go-to for business casual. They also had the Lily Swell waterbottles on major markdown and some Vineyard Vines outerwear, if you’re interested.

Of course we had to go check out Kendra Scott next (I used to work at the Hilldale location)! They’re doing a Buy More, Save More which is always the time I recommend people buy gifts for others and themselves – one piece is 15% off, two is 20% off, and 3 is 25% off. Plus, they’re giving a free pair of earrings with any purchase over $100. Still need presents for graduation parties coming up? Want to stock up for back to school? Just really love Kendra and want an excuse to buy their new pearls collection (this was me lol)? Also, if you have a July birthday, you can always use your 50% birthday discount, which is genuinely the best birthday discount I’ve ever seen a retailer have.

Our last stop on our shopping expedition was Twigs. Twigs is definitely the most high-end shop at Hilldale with a lot of amazing designers you won’t find anywhere in Madison honestly (Rag & Bone, Smythe, DVF, etc.), so if you’re looking to splurge this is the place. They have a huge percentage off their sale this weekend (60-90% off) and it’s a mix of summer, sweaters, basics, and luxury pieces. We didn’t end up spending a lot of time here since I just looked through their sales pieces recently, but if you’ve never been in there now’s a great time to check it out.

By this point, we were officially shopped out. There were other stores I wanted to check out – Anthropologie, Free People, and Evereve – but honestly we just needed a beverage and some food. Our original plan was to go to Bartaco, but the wait was over an hour so we went to Cafe Hollander instead and it was perfect. (Pro-tip: put your name in early and then shop while you wait for your table) We got cocktails and bruschetta and I balled out and had an amazing steak with french fries. Sarah and I talked about dating and blogging and business and life and it was the nicest way to end our shopping marathon.

If you’re in a shopping mood this weekend, I definitely recommend checking out the sale. There’s a lot of fun deals and you can make a whole afternoon out of it with dinner or drinks. The sale runs today and tomorrow (7/12-13), so get there while the going’s good. Enjoy your weekend!

This post is sponsored by Hilldale Mall. They’ve been my favorite mall in Madison since I moved here with a lot of my favorite stores, restaurants, and fitness studios all in one place. Thanks so much for supporting the brands that support Toast!
